Cooled in the Spray

i remember the heat

   the intense spell of rain

    upon the rooftop

       as we kissed

flashes of light

   peals of thunder

    electric discharging

     as your legs wrapped around

the curtains full sail

    with gusts of fierce wind

     passing through the room

      as we draped ourselves in passion

how we adjoined with the storm

  our  bodies clapping … trembling

      until the cloudburst… let loose

    and we  cooled in the spray

midafternoon

has proven impossible

    to distillate on anything at all…

    save the indiscriminate remembrances

      of moments…

where spirits

   became perceptibly bright

where librettos slinked

    through fissures in composure

 and glances met with  gasp for air

only now,  such excursions

   seem foolhardy upon appraisal

and yet

were i permitted to relive

    a single of such moments…

not a moment’s consideration

would be needed

the other night

full moon shone over the clouds

and a thought of you

a truss

a once-song-wail
meets another in sky
then as one coil into
the most tender of sigh
as deep as an ocean
or horizon is wide
if but for a moment
a truss they do tie

stories with no end

 unsettle

    mainly, because we
         must finish them

and it is difficult

    living vicariously
      through oneself

with a crack! and snap !

    they launch into flight.

“fire sperm of sort”… roy says

    “with tail in trail.”

carried towards constellation…

   lifted in moonlight.

and there  is significance here

   yet

something far too simple

    for my complex ideas

         to wrap around.

suddenly  it emerges…
 it is life.

 yes,  there is vitality.

it started small…

   and grew…

   it began to propagate…

     attempt reproduction.

     it aged…

        became a steadier warmth

           an experienced glow.
then

     by morning...
           ash

i do

 i held them off
    as long as i could.
 each one approached
    but did not pass.
 one by one...
    then another.
 surrounding the borders
     but not beyond.
 rising and reseeding
    again and again.
 and when i had won...
    my silent
       emotionless
           victory...
    i did not celebrate.
 no remembrance...
    no parade...
       no feast was held.
 only an empty silence.
and on we went
    to the next nominal thing.
   

however 
 now they have returned
     once again.
 oh how they have collected.
      my every emotion...
      my every thought...
      my every last feeling...
        gathering as one.
 they rise against me...
    finding sympathy in every cause.
 using all at their disposal to move me.
 and as they escape...
     my eyes are red
     and my nostrils close...
     and my breath is tight.
 shivering...
    shaking...
        whimpering....
             i submit.
  
oh how i miss you.
 oh how i do.

i wish i might break looking back

what ought be content and left at that
 

veracities which may have come to pass

not real
nor solid
nonphysical mass

time not now but stuck in then

my heart
my soul
from body descend

confessions noble while denials corrupt

some freedom i should have left barred up

   the rest of our being

the immaculate burning

   still furious

sheathed within

    broken assurance…
